An Extensive Background of Experience
Within the Criminal Justice System
William Tyson has had vast
experience in the criminal justice system for more than twenty-three
years. In 1978 Tyson began working as a law enforcement officer. During this time he
investigated complex organized crime cases as a member of the narcotics
unit. Many of these
investigations lasted several years and utilized wiretaps as
investigative aids. He attended numerous training classes conducted by the United
States Department of Justice and was a member of several
multi-jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Administration
(DEA) narcotic task force investigations.
After graduating from Law School in 1991 Tyson became a prosecutor
in the Tampa Bay area. During his
tenure with the State Attorney’s Office Tyson conducted over 100 jury
trials for crimes such as murder, rape, robbery, drug trafficking, and
DUI manslaughter. As a member of the State Attorney DUI Manslaughter
prosecution unit for over five years, he completed several advanced DUI
schools and is also a graduate of the National College of District
Attorneys Advanced Trial Program. William Tyson was appointed by the governor through
an Executive Order as a Special Prosecutor for Hillsborough County.
Tyson’s teaching experience
includes positions as an adjunct criminal law professor at St.
Petersburg Junior College and as a lecturer in DUI legal strategy at
Stetson University College of Law.
As a former State Prosecutor, he
witnessed first hand the strategies and tactics used by the prosecution.
In that position, he was also privy to the State's areas of weakness. By
learning his adversary's technique and approach from the inside, and
after practicing criminal defense, he is in a position to help you make
an informed decision about your case.
